Gary Sullivan

A Long Island product, Sullivan played division 1 soccer at Adelphi University.  During this time Sullivan started 81 games.  While playing at Adelphi Sullivan was recognized as one of the top 15 finalist in the country for the Herman award. This award goes out to the best college player in the nation.

After Adelphi, Sullivan was then drafted with the 44th pick by the Colorado Rapids of Major League Soccer.  After spending two seasons with the Rapids Sullivan returned home to play the next four years with the Long Island Rough Riders.  Each of the 4 seasons Sullivan was nominated to the leagues All Star team, and in his second season with the team was voted the A league defender of the year award.  During his time with the Rough Riders Gary went back to school to complete his masters in Physical Education and Health from Adelphi University.  While completing his Masters Gary was the assistant coach for the Adelphi women’s soccer team.

Sullivan has had experience coaching youth soccer for over 14 years.  Some of his proudest moments as a coach range from taking his U 17 ECNL team to the nationals two years in a row, winning multiple state cups with his U'13 team, to winning division 4 with a local town team.

Along with acquiring his National Youth License with USYSA, Gary has spent time training with clubs in Spain, France, Italy, Brazil, and Holland.  Gary says this has allowed him to experience a variety of different styles of coaching from some of the best soccer cultures in the world.

He is now excited for the opportunity to teach what he has learned to the players of the East Meadow Soccer Club!!
